GT LE Rear Anti Roll Bar Questions

PreviousPage 2 of 2

Not had a chance yet 🙂 But I will let you know when I get round to it. I don't drive it hard really and a few books etc say to remove the rear bar if you lower it. I wasn't convinced by it bolting to the boot floor.

I lowered Nellie last year, initially removed the rear anti roll bar. However, during MOT it was pointed out by the mechanic (who knew they were originally installed) that as it was originally factory fit it should be retained to pass the MOT, he also said that no one else had picked up on it. So it may depend on who carries out your MOT as to whether they notice it's absence.
At the time the advice from Moss was that as I wasn't racing the car then the rear anti roll bar wasn't really necessary.
Either way, Nellie is once again sporting a refitted rear anti roll bar.:)

Ah cheers. I'm tempted to get an original rear bar setup that mounts further back. The handling has changed but I'm not sure how much this is caused by the new rear suspension. The front turns in but it seems like the rear doesn't follow.

All early rubber bumper models (1975-76-inc The Jubilee & V8 models) came without a rear anti-roll bar. When I first got my Jube back on the road, as an 1800 then, the rear end was a nightmare for stepping out.

In my opinion the standard bar greatly improves things however the combination in the change of thickness and geometry on the Hopkinson handling kit (now the moss kit EHK101) is far superior. However this is all a matter of personal choice and driving habits.

Another thing to bare in mind is that an insurance company, although unlikely, might pick up on the fact that there should be a bar and then use it as an angle not to pay out god forbid that anything might happen 😮

If it ain't broken don't try to fix it as if you do it will definitely break

Ooof good advice, I think I'll try to pick up a second hand rear bar. I'll measure what I have to and report back 🙂

if you have lowered the suspension then Moss will sell the 'Hoppy' drop links for chrome bumper along with the bushes ;);)
