Hi Colin,

Understood, Nell has dark grey spokes but also dark grey "rims", i.e. the upper area (spokes) and rims are dark grey and the lower or inset area of the spokes are black. I thought the outer rims were just polished or laquered alloy, that's to say - no paint? 😉

Hi Colin,

Just to confirm, cause I'm a bit slow here - the dark grey finish is NOT paint, correct?. Nell definately has dark grey paint in those areas...:(

Having said that, she looks OK with the paint effect

There is a photo of an L.E. wheel and I guess that as the metallic grey was so dark it could easily be confused as being black-especially as the stag's were black.

Jubilee-Man's photo near the top is spot on colour-wise to mine which is original. To be honest, I have seen a few restored wheels that have been painted black and they just look wrong.

Each wheel is dated as can be seen in the photo - a letter which is the month (A = Jan) plus the year and mine have also been punched on the back (XX September 80) and there is an x-ray stamp too. Just for the trivia minded!!
