MGB LE Progress Thread

Not really. My mates and I used to do handbrake turns in the carpark at the end of his driveway though...LOL

Hopefully you did a better job than he does hahaha!!!

I bet he's got some 'exotica' in his garage for blasting round your roads in :@

If it ain't broken don't try to fix it as if you do it will definitely break

Without a doubt! haha

He had the Ford GT registered on the Island. He's sold that now though. Our car tax is a lot cheaper, so I would imagine he has a few of his nice motors on the IOM!

So, I've not been on here for a while. With finishing my degree, going on holiday and moving home I've not had much time!

Now that I am home, I am gonna start working through my to do list! First thing I have done is put my black plates on (which are legal on the Isle of Man!). Here are some photos to show them off 🙂

I took my local car club to the IOM a few years back. The first few photos are a good place for seal spotting.
You dont want to bring it over to the UK in Sept for the Manchester car show do you?:p

Lovely to see these pics of your MGB LE in the IOM, I did the final year of my degree at the marine biology station in Port Erin, now sadly closed but brings back happy memories, Nigel Mansell was the local celeb (and special policeman out on the beat) whilst I was there, I didn't have my LE then although I did have an MGA. Now I have an LE roadster (62k miles) which has been converted to chrome bumpers and an original GT (48k miles) I wonder how many other members have a pair of LE's ? I certainly could be tempted to live over in the IOM again so you never know ! cheers Steve

Hi Steve

Not in the Isle of Man but not far from you in Camberley Surrey we have a 'brace' of LEs one JOA91W a GT built on 18 Sept 1980 which has done just over 80k miles and a roadster LE SKL218W built on 19 Sept 1980 which has done almost 80k miles.
Great fun! 😀
Are you coming to Nuffield Place this Saturday perhaps? I plan to be there in my roadster. B)

I do want to start coming along to car shows - probably won't be until next year though. Not long moved home from uni and need to start getting some dosh behind me! Going to be doing a fair bit of work on the LE over the winter, so will definitely be showing it off next year! 🙂

Yeah! The Isle of Man is perfect for a little roadster 🙂 No motorways or congested traffic!

Thanks Steve 🙂 I live in Port Erin, I remember the biology station closing! Feels like so long ago. I believe I have the only LE on the island! It's a lovely place to live. I certainly don't intend on leaving!

My mini was originally from the IOM. I had to re-register it at the local DVLA office 🙂

So, my poor little MG hasn't had a great deal of love recently. The last couple of years have been spent saving money for buying a house and getting married. Now that both of those are done, I'm feeling some good motivation to show the MG some care!

I've been investigating for rust! I know that the arches behind both doors has gone and need cutting out and repairing. I've pulled the front bumper off with no signs of rust behind it. However, the flat bar running under the bumper has disintegrated, but that's the only bit I've found!

I'm now trying to decide what I want to do with the bumpers. I'm not keen on doing any welding to convert to chrome bumpers, but I am thinking of fitting Sebring valances and a chrome grille.
