Replacing windshield MGB (roadster)
Quote from Rob-USLE on 8th November 2013, 10:18 pmHi Collin & Chris,
Yep, the shop is an famous MG workshop, howver the dopeys who did it did it for the second time...
Also I spoke by co-incidence a guy who worked on MGB's for 20 years in his own MG shop, he had to sell the shop in 2006 due to health reasons, and was just back in Holland from sunny Spain where he lives now.
He explained me that fitting the glass in the frame is one thing but fixing the frame on the car is the next.
It seems that if there is a space between the aluframe part and the carbody which should be bolted together spaces should be used and not close a gap with fasten the bolts (especially the top ones) because that action would give tension to the lower part of the from and after a few speedbumps etc you would need a new window.
Yes, well story will go on, they do not want to lose a customer with 8 MG's in the stable I reckon.
Also here the regular glass-specialist are not interested and worry that it it's time consuming and risk of going wrong.
Will be continued.
