Strange fault - illuminated switch lights come on with brake light

Quote from V P on 9th August 2015, 9:22 pmHaving a strange fault with my LE. When I brake, the illuminated switch lights for the heater fan and the map light come on. Any ideas of what to check? The rear lights are double earthed and to the boot catch (and cleaned/checked) I cleaned all the fuse box blades and holders too.
Any ideas of what to check next? Any earths under dash to check and clean?

Test it with the rear bulbs out...

Quote from V P on 10th August 2015, 9:04 amI'll give that a try 🙂 Any more ideas? Where does the front and rear loom join up? Behind the front wing? I was wondering if it's a dodgy connection there.

Quote from V P on 13th August 2015, 7:26 pmWell you all pointed me in the right direction. Cheers! It seems like one of the LED bulbs I'd fitted in the rear had gone faulty. When I braked it, the sidelights came on! Not just the illuminated bulb lights. 😮

Quote from V P on 14th August 2015, 9:24 amI might see if I can get some SMD style ones. I'm still a firm believer in using LEDs, purely from all the load it saves on my knackered out wiring.
