Wiring Casette player
Quote from rockdelta10 on 28th March 2010, 10:50 amHi, guys, I am new to this forum and also very new to owning an MG.
I currently have a Jubilee that I am restoring back to its original condition, and need some help.
Now I am used to modern cars and fitting cd players and radios into them, so when I looked at the wiring of my MG, I was a little confused.
The cassette player came disconnected, and Lord knows what wires go where, or if the wires I want are even there.
I have spotted a few loose ended wires behind the cassette player, but I don't want to dive in without knowing what goes where, and risking the other elctrics in my car.
If anyone has a colour picture or diagram if the wires, what they are and where they go, It would be of great help.
Regards
Tom

Welcome to the site.
There is a plain flying lead allocated for the radio (green/white) which is switched via the ignition switch. Provided you don't need a permanent live feed then if you use this and one of the black earth wires you should be good to go. If you do require a permanent live then use an in line fuse and tap into the cigarette lighter (red wire).
Good Luck

Quote from rockdelta10 on 28th March 2010, 1:31 pmThanks for that info, It turns out that my cassette player is broken anyway, as it won't power up, so I have put in my CD player, gotta have another look at the wires though as I blew the cd players fuse trying to connect it.

The one problem with them, is that they may be a bit too deep

Hi Colin,
I'm hoping to fit my old Kenwood CD unit to Nell tomorrow and will be hunting for this flying lead. Is it usually run into the dash to a specific location, or do I need to get the steering column cowl apart and chase it from there?
Cheers

I'm impressed...I'd already looked and couldn't see it at first glance but went back in after your reply, had a root around and hey presto there it was, hidden in the back of the loom.
New (ish) CD player and autochanger now fitted, many thanks
Cheers
